Swollen appendix. If left untreated it often leads to death. It appears to be the result of an obstruction that
causes the appendix to fill with mucus & swell. Eventually pus forms in & around the appendix & it bursts.
Symptoms[]
- Pain that begins near the navel & often shifts to the lower right abdomen
- Pain that becomes sharper over several hours
- Tenderness of the lower right abdomen
- Sharp pain in the lower right abdomen when the area is pressed & the pressure is quickly released
- Pain that get worse when you cough, walk, or make jarring movements
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Slight fever
- Constipation
- Unable to pass gas
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal swelling
The location of the pain may vary depending on age & the position of a person's appendix.
